League Race #3 - Spa Enduro

It's here folks, the first proper endurance race of the season. And what a blinder it'll be...
20 laps of Spa in the 650Open cars - fantastic. I was going to do night racing, but that's not available. I was going to do wet racing, but that's just not fun. So for now, it'll be tyre wear at high and 20 laps to survive. Consider this an hour's racing!

The track.
It's Spa. Enough said.
There's a myriad of on board vids of Spa, but this one appeals to me, if only because it looks much like his steering works backwards...

The cars.
It's 650Open, which means you get a Le Mans car, and you get to have traction control which will be handy with the tyre wear turned on. Dilemma for me is a car that's nice and predictable, but 2 seconds a lap slower than the ballistic 787b. Hmm, I suppose I could drive it slower... haha.

Race #2 Results

I'll keep it reasonably short, I've not done any media yet - that's to follow...

Race Round Up

Clubman.
The Gallardos continue to be errr fun. I still can't decide if it's quicker to drift the corner on full power or to take an ultra smooth line with these cars. What's for certain is they brake like a bar of soap in a wet bath. The amount of times I seemed to lock up then spin backwards off the track... well, that's my excuse!
In any case they're an entertaining car without too many vices, almost certainly to have another appearance soon.
I'll need to watch the replay from someone else's position too, my own special race off the back didn't encounter much competition other than the occasional (every) corner.

Championship
Ah the TC500 class, this has to be the best league class we have. It might have suffered in the PP fiasco but there's no doubt that the close racing is back now.
And what of the RX8's - so dominant in the first few races, and whilst undeniably quick certainly not cruising off into the distance.
Special mention to Luke, a second place is well deserved chap. And mention to Callum, I think we all cheered a bit on the inside as your Schumacher dominance of the series seems to be unfolding... but is it, the points may say otherwise (and not because I've given a new starter discount).
I reckon if I'd not had the punt (and yes,we all get them so not complaining) my RX7 LM would have kept up with the Hondas in the GT590 - certainly the scamper off the line was great compared to them, but the most excellent cornering of those cars just keeps them going. Evan, I wonder if it's time to blow the dust off your NSX now the PP points have calmed down, I reckon that'll be about all that can smash those cars...

Next week
I look at the calendar and next week is 20 laps of Spa in the 650Open class. Blimey. Now you're all wondering about that line I take through Eau Rouge. Meh, figure it out, and although this vid might not help, it's well worth a watch with the sound as loud as your tinny laptop speakers can cope with!

Right now!
Too late, but it's my duty to inform you that tonight is Le Mans night! There's live streaming too (hopefully):

It's not always raining in Blighty...

Doesn't always rain in the UK. What's more, given a choice, this is what I'd be doing right now, and indeed right after right now...

More Mountain Biking Videos

Sport of Kings, albeit Kings with pins in their legs.

[edit] OK. Some of that shizzle is pretty large. Perhaps something more sedate, but sort of similar...

Season Points Race #2

It's been a while, but we're back with another points round. I think next season we might do this slightly differently as like this we're really not collecting points - mind you, the rest of the season is full now so time to practice for sure!

The points race this week is a well known circuit with some well known cars. Behold...

The track
Racing this week is at Motegi East - we've raced it many times but interesting factoid is that I've never recorded a replay there, so here's something from somewhere else:

Nice, but I'm glad we're racing GT5. There's a reasonable real clip here but they don't allow embedding.

The cars
TC500 and GT590-4 are both racing this week, so get tuning. I know I have, my TC500 just isn't cutting it any more so I may have to buy something new and tune that up, such a pain eh.
In the GT590-4 class I think we're still trialling new cars although I notice that the Calsonic Skylines are starting to feature.
Personally, unless I can find a good reason, I'll be racing this:

It seems to be a friendly car.
Note folks, tyre wear is on this week so a poorly handling car may well have the disadvantage, not least as I'll be setting the tyre wear to very high for these shorter races.

Other news
We're not far away from the GT6 demo being released - if there's multi-player in that we'll look to have some thrash nights with that I think!
