League Update

Update time.
Good news, the hand is healing very well indeed, in fact I'd probably be able to race in early September without any drama. But....

Bad news... slight issue over my gaming environment. In a rash, I'm getting older, moment I decided to upgrade my gaming TV, from a 32" 720p jobbie to this behemoth. All good. Order placed etc etc, even sold the old one the next day for $200 (bargain for them).
However, the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed the "Limited Stock..." comment in the linked advert.
Oh dear.
Oh very dear.
Turns out that I have no gaming TV (however eyemax it may be) until October. Shizzle.

Anyway, I have a few more replays I can upload, and whilst I can only ponder on what 51" 3D GT5 splendour might look like for now, I can still enjoy the odd bit of GT5 action...

I'll probably update this blog in the meantime to keep things alive.
Till October...

STI @ a Lotus Club Day - Lakeside Driver Training Centre

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have an invite to Queensland's Lotus Car Clubs track day at Lakeside using a mini sprint track set-up in the Driver Training area.

There were 28 Lotus there, mostly different versions of the Elise or Exige's, a couple of Lotus 7's, 1 Espirit, 1  Elan and 1 x 340R - that thing is a beast!!  Also in the mix was a S15 Silvia, a Westfield and my 05 STI..

Lotus 340R. 1 of only 340 built with only 132kw engine and a measley weight of 701kg it smashes the 0-100kph time in 4.4secounds!! Very impressive to see launch.  Check out the wiki entry here for more info.

Safe to say I have a new found respect for the Lotus, seriously quick cars, the winner of the day thoroughly whipped me- 4 seconds up the road (happy to take advice on where to find the 4 seconds!!).  Here's some on board video for 2 of my runs.  After getting a feel for the track on my 3 runs I settled into running low 51s for the rest of the day.   My reckoning is more time in turn 1 - a blind right hander over a crest - simply put, there room for less braking more throttle here plus more time available in the some of the tight corners/a bit of over driving really. I'm quite happy with the do-nut (when you see it you'll know)....

Video interlude (again)

I feel bad for depriving you of your racing folks, so I took the time to video our Spa race, and then a TC500 practice race, and then I found a cool F1 playtime. And here they are:

Spa - 15 Laps of race epicness...

Me in an old 489pp Merc showing the 500pp Subarus my heals (just)

So, Red Bull decided to run their F1 car through the Lincoln Tunnel. At 190Mph. Needs sound of course...

And (sorry about the shite embedding) they decided to rag the car around a street. What I love about this clip is both the immense sound and the final run where ol' Coulthard decides to go flat - damn fast!

League Race #0 - Results

Brief update today folks.
Reason, I learned a new word over the weekend - "Metacarpus" and more specifically the fifth one on my left hand and what happens when you break it.
Turns out biking is dangerous mmmkay. And typing with a cast on is no fun.

Results:
1. Andrew
2. Luke
3. Chris

I think it was in that order for both races - there's no points in this race so it doesn't really matter but shame it was such a small field, the S2000 AEM racers are a good drive.

All Stop:
Well, not only the inauspicious start to the season, but also I'm facing six weeks in plaster so a steering wheel is out (and I can't drive with a controller) and I'm thinking that the league might get put on hold for a month.
Certainly this week will be a trial in my temporary cast... next points night - we'll see.

I think I can sum up my thoughts at the moment in one word... Bugger!

Welcome to the 2012 SuperStars Season

Welcome back folks.
Ready for a top season? I hope so.
Plans for any Thursday nights in the immediate future? I hope not...

It starts here.

Changes:
Firstly, only a few changes that really affect the season.
  1. Now 10 Races in the season - it goes on a bit. This is to allow folks to miss a couple of races, as we do from time to time.
  2. TC500 now allows 2 door FWD cars to allow for Honda Civics etc, if you fancy. 2 Door RWD etc is still not allowed.
  3. The whole season is mapped out, off nights included. Quite some involvement there.
Details:
You can find the race log via the link on the right - I have a copy of the old one if anyone wants a record of the season.
The updated charter is also there, reflecting the 2 door FWD option for TC500.

Races:
The key races are here -
And if you're feeling brave, the full event calendar is here -

When does this all start?

9 August 2012 - be there or be somewhere else.
