Another Blinder!
Another top night's racing folks, and a night of points to be had too with such a full field.
I think the image below says it all, this is the finish line at the end of the second race, 2 seconds across the whole field:
Official race results:
Race #1
1 - Andrew
2 - Paul
3 - Baloo
4 - Roderick
5 - Evan (dropped)
Race #2
1 - Baloo
2 - Evan
3 - Andrew
4 - Paul
5 - Roderick
Note: I did discuss scratching the first race, but in reality we had another dropout (me) and Baloo left us for what was the real world third race. As such, stewards enquiry etc, we'll count the first two as it had most racers. Sorry Evan. However, as you were there when the race began (albeit not actually on the grid) you'll get a point.
So what was the racing like? Turns out that the wet race option worked really well. Adding in a little variance (I could do that) helped I think, as some were running on Intermediate tyres... So we had different handling in the cars.
The boost/catch-up worked well, keeping those that overrun on corners in the mix throughout the race, and once the field was close I think boost played less of a part and the strong slipstream came into play.
I think it was the second race where we all piled into the last corner/chicane, and coming out it was anyone's race - amazing how the drive out of the corner made such a difference as some ran ahead and others dropped back!
Overall, a good race, not too much shunting - and mostly acceptable in the wet I think. Note the braking points in circuits though, don't just watch the brake lights of the guy in front!
Season standings are updated on the right.
There's also a link to the race log which records the various results, so you can see it's pure coincidence that I'm winning!!
Next non-league night?
