Race Round Up
Clubman
Our venerable (venereal?) clubman series had us racing Aston Martins around Motegi East. As usual the cars were super close in the racing, with high boost helping.
Really it's anyone's race in this series I think, and that action happens all the way through the field. Certainly in the last couple of laps Luke and I had a really top scrap for some of the lower places - great stuff.
Expect to see those cars again, or at least more likely than the Tesla Hipster thing that we raced a few weeks back.
Championship
A bit of melancholy here the last points night in the season for TC500 cars, and to be frank, probably for ever. The pp changes haven't been kind, in fact they've made some of the cars too quick (exit Evan's Commodore) and some too slow (exit my BMW cars, remember the green shoe?). In a cruel twist of irony though, BTCC went the same way. Regulation changes made it hard to compete, dropping all but Vauxhall and I think Honda (though I may be wrong there), and we've just had a race largely the same; Luke was brave with his 'factory' RX8 but the racing was dominated by Mercedes and Lexus.
But the tale doesn't end there, as much like happened in BTCC, it just made the racing closer - and what an epic race that last race at Grand Valley was. I might have come third, but I reckon it was up there in the most intense racing I've done... It was almost foregone that the Mercs were going to come past, three fast drivers in fast cars, all set up differently, so all pushing at different times. And all it took was the most minor of mistakes and it was all over for me in the following lap. Exception racing and the replay (on it's way) shows that.
A fitting end to what has been an enduring class I think you'll all agree.
