After Rod's PS3 GT5 game data implosion the other night I thought I should check out how to back this up. To be fair, this could of happened to any of us(me for sure as I've never even looked into backing the PS3 up)... which would 'blow chunks' to phrase what Rod was probably thinking in a slightly more festive manner.
Just in case you're not familiar with backing up on PS3 the good news it's a quick and painless process, you just need a USB stick or an external harddrive(PC formated-mac formatted won't do it).
In the Main Menu
- Go to Game
- Saved Data Uility
- Go to GT5
- Triangle
- Copy
- Down till your USD/HD appears
- X button & Voila, you're all backed up.
This won't save Video's or pics but your game pogress, throphies and the valueable garage you've worked so hard to accumulate is all there.

Another couple of points. DLC is not saved either, although you should be able to redownload it.
The backup is linked/locked to your PSN ID, so no dice restoring it another account
Done. Thanks!
Though I think I need to do a full system backup to save my created tracks - they're not in that savegame backup. No biggie, probably should do exactly that anyhow.
Top post!
