League Race #3 - Suzuka

Race #3 is here already!

Seems less than a week since the last league race, and it is! Thanks to the week's slip from the last race we're doing this one back on schedule and one week later.

Track:

It's Suzuka. Interesting factoid is that this circuit has featured in every season we've had. The first two seasons we had it as a wet race with WRXs. But we've moved on from there...

It's an iconic track for sure. And one that anyone who's raced any half decent racing games will have enjoyed at some point....

"Designed as a Honda test track in 1962 by John Hugenholtz, Suzuka is a unique circuit, being one of the very few in the world to have a figure 8 layout. Obviously, due the danger of an intersecting track, the track doesn't actually intersect with itself; instead, the back straight passes over the front section by means of an overpass. Due to its unique layout, Suzuka is a massive test of driver skill and is easily one of the most difficult racing circuits in the world. Nevertheless, the track is loved by drivers and spectators alike for its challenging design and many opportunities for overtaking."

The cars:

It's 650Open time. Time to pick something that's super fast and try and slow it down...

When choosing, consider this:

• A race car is just faster - road cars don't have the grip or low down centre of gravity.
• Down tune your car - a 700pp car will handle better at 650pp, than a 630pp with turbo
• Balance the three: Wing/Power/Weight.
• More wing - slower, higher pp. Less wing, more sideways action at 300kph and we don't want that.
• More power - great, but no wing, and lots of weight. Consider boost (it'll be set to low) and draughting down the straights
• Weight. 1000kg is somewhere in the ballpark, some cars can have added weight to get them to this and lower the overall pp (more power!).

If you're stuck for a car, do the "Like the wind" race in the a-spec races, you'll get a minolta. Here is a list of other cars you can win. Gems include:
