Hi Folks,
Update on the next league race so we can practice - cos it's going to need some I think!
I'm so excited I can't wait until after tonight's racing. Ha!
Introducing the 24 Minute Le Mans!
Details:
Assuming we're looking at around 4-4:30 mins per lap we'll run one 6 (that's six!) lap race at Le Mans with time progression set to 30 to give a 50% night race!
Cars are to be decided, but thinking your favourite 587pp car tuned to how you like it - to allow for a race feel.
About the timing:
With an in race start time of 19:00 (League actual start time is still 21:00), and then a progression of 30 (every minute equals 30 minutes in-game) we'll see a race time of at least 4x6 (4 mins, 6 laps) so 24 Minutes. With me?
So, 24 minutes x 30 = 12 hours in game.
That's not 24 hours! I hear you cry.
True, but, 12 hours is plenty, we get an 'hour or two' racing at dusk, some night racing and then night followed by dawn. Setting it faster is too much like a light switch and hard to appreciate racing into a morning sun...
The cars:
Tuned road cars to 587pp is preferred - we all have them now I think. However I'm open to suggestions of using the Supra and Skyline of the last league race as they were awesome - and the fastest cars in the shared garage.
For those that don't have a fettled 587pp car - I have many, and am happy to lend a few out to other drivers (I'll give them out and expect them gifted back!). If anyone wants a car tuned, happy to take a gift, tune it and gift it back...
Additional changes to this race:
Contrary to normal racing, we're also doing few other things differently...
- One compulsory pit stop - I'll be checking the replay as I record to DVD. Exclusions for those that don't!
- Damage set to low. Normally it's off. This means a shunt will affect the car for a short time. visible damage will be off - we like our toys pristine in the replays!
- We will have a one lap sprint race to before the actual race - this is to ensure we have well matched cars. I'll be asking all if they're ok to race following this single lap. Points from this race will not count.
- Double points from single race - so a first with five racers will net 10 points!

I think that's it. A complex race night I think, but one that if it works could be a fantastic event. I've had a quick spin at night racing and it's frickin tough!
